Mohamed Salah’s got so bored at Liverpool that he’s invented a physics-defying pass

The skill of finding ways to keep oneself entertained, just like selecting the perfect outfit for a smart-casual gathering and mastering the technique of chopping garlic with precision, is an underappreciated trait for a human to possess.

This is often more of a skill than a science, as each person's tolerance for boredom varies.

For instance, consider Mohamed Salah.

Salah has focused on a singular goal for the 2024-25 season: securing the Premier League championship for Liverpool and bringing the title to the fans within the stadium for the first time since German reunification.

The Egyptian forward has achieved 25 goals and 17 assists in the league following his precise pass, which allowed Alexis Mac Allister to seal the Reds' 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Given that Arsenal is an astonishing 13 points behind Liverpool with a third of the season still to be played, Salah knew he had to create some excitement for himself or risk facing a dull period by Easter.

With Newcastle defeated and mentally back in their home city, Salah's mind began to click. An incredible outside-of-the-foot pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold was the setup for further creativity.

As play shifted from the Anfield Road End towards the Kop, the 32-year-old player dribbled towards the Newcastle area, with Lewis Hall rapidly retreating backwards in response.

Recognizing his opponent had inadvertently provided him with the space he needed, Salah cleverly executed another outside-the-boot pass that beautifully curved its way around Hall.

The player's kick sent three opponents flying, showcasing a move so exceptional it would have made Albert Einstein surrender and Isaac Newton rethink his famous apple incident.

Unfortunately, the quick extension of Luis Diaz's middle earth legs was not sufficient to elevate the pass to an assist, resulting in the ball hitting Nick Pope's side-netting instead.

As the dust settled on Liverpool's latest win, Mohamed Salah stated to TNT Sports that he regards this season as his most impressive at Anfield Stadium.

I believe it's my strongest season so far," Salah said. "Up until now, I feel I'm making the other players around me perform at their best, which is what I strive for.

I'm familiar with their tactics, and I'm aware of the increased statistics surrounding the players this season. My role has been significant, as indicated by my assist numbers, which are higher than ever before, suggesting I've been instrumental in contributing to their success.

If you look in that direction, Cody Gakpo, Luuk de Jong, other players, their season is better than others and I think that's it's my best season because I make the players around me better.

When asked about his desired legacy, the forward replied: “I want the fans to remember that I gave everything to the fans, I gave everything to the city. I was present, I wasn't idle, I simply enjoyed the game and gave my all.”

I believe that's what the city is all about - they offer you love and you form a bond with them because you invest your entire self. I simply hope they recall that I was here for eight years and devoted myself completely.

With Mohamed Salah's hand and four fingers on the Premier League trophy and that contract still unsigned, every Salah appearance these days feels like a special exhibition that should not be missed before it disappears.

With plenty of the campaign still to come, the Egyptian can focus on increasing his trophy count and discovering fresh ways to impress the devoted Liverpool supporters.

Then, who knows? Maybe someone could show him the right way to chop garlic?
